Warriors Honor Staff Member with Dejan Milojević Brate Award
In other team news, the Warriors named Bert Ortiz Sr. as the recipient of the Dejan Milojević “Brate” Award. The award recognizes a staff member who represents dedication, spirit, and the legacy of the late assistant coach Dejan Milojević.
The term “brate” means “brother” in Serbian, symbolizing unity and connection. The award highlights individuals who reflect the values Milojević brought to the organization.
Ortiz Sr. began working with the Warriors in 2000 through the team’s food program and has spent over 26 years contributing to the organization’s kitchen operations. His work has supported players, coaches, and staff across generations.
Warriors guard Stephen Curry presented the award prior to the team’s regular season finale at Chase Center against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Milojević, who passed away in January 2024, was a respected coach and former player with a successful international career. He played a key role in the Warriors’ 2022 NBA Championship run as an assistant coach.
Play-In Tournament Outlook
The Golden State Warriors are entering the final stretch of the 2025–26 NBA regular season. The team has secured a spot in the Play-In Tournament, competing for a chance to reach the playoffs.
Under the current format, teams ranked 7th to 10th compete for the final playoff positions through a series of elimination and qualification games.
- 7th vs 8th: Winner earns 7th seed
- 9th vs 10th: Loser eliminated
- Final Play-In game determines 8th seed
At this stage, the Los Angeles Clippers sit in 8th place, the Portland Trail Blazers in 9th, and the Warriors in 10th. Golden State will face either of those teams in their upcoming Play-In matchup.
The Warriors’ path forward depends on their performance in these crucial games as they fight for a postseason spot.
